Julia Culbertson – Director of Discipleship and Children’s Ministries

Julia Culbertson is an educator with a desire to serve families and disciple adults and children at Trinity Church in her role as the Director of Discipleship and Children’s Ministries. She joined the Trinity Church staff in 2016. Julia oversees all Children’s Ministries, Adult Discipleship Ministries, and the Welcome CREW. Prior to joining the Trinity staff, Julia taught high school Spanish for eight years. Julia has a BA in Spanish Education from Grove City College, an Inter-University MA in Spanish Language and Culture from Central Connecticut State University and the University of Salamanca, Spain, and is currently attending Dallas Theological Seminary. She and her husband Kyle grew up attending Trinity Church together, and are now raising their four children in the Trinity family. Julia enjoys reading, painting, playground playdates with her friends and their kids, and studying and teaching God’s Word.

Sharon Culbertson – Preschool Director

Sharon Culbertson has been a member of Trinity Church since 1981 and has nearly 30 years of experience teaching preschool.  She has directed Trinity Community Preschool since 1999. Sharon has volunteered for many ministries within the church over the past years, including; Youth Ministries, Children’s and Adult Sunday School, VBS, Sports Camp, Pioneer Girls Club, Women’s Bible Study Leader and Prayer Team along with serving on various Nominating and Planning Committees. Sharon has an Associate’s degree in Child Development, a Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Studies, is a state certified head teacher for children ages 0-5 years and has earned the CT Director’s Credential for Directors of Early Childhood Educational Programs. Sharon is a member of the National Association for the Education of Young Children and The Association of Christian Schools International and Early Educators.  Sharon enjoys horseback riding and is an equestrian volunteer at a Therapeutic Horseback Riding Center, where she assists students with disabilities. She and her husband have 4 grown, married children and 10 grand-children.

Gaelin Johnson – Office Manager

Gaelin Johnson has attended Trinity since 2016, and has served on the worship team, the decor team, the leadership team of the Moms Connect ministry, and in the children’s ministry. She worked in early childhood education and then stayed home with her children prior to joining the Trinity staff. Gaelin lives in Bethany with her husband, Kevin, and their three girls, Kimberly, Margaret and Leah. In her free time, she loves baking, long walks outside, and listening to oldies.

Charles has a passion for photography and videography. He also enjoys traveling, hiking and bird watching with Charlotte. They currently live in Shelton, CT. At Trinity he has participated in the following ministries:  small groups which he and Charlotte lead, men’s ministries, Trinity Cares International, Sports and Arts Camp, Re-Engage, streaming ministry, communication workgroup, website ministry, and overseeing Trinity’s technology. Charles is currently developing a Trinity Church technology team to oversee a variety of hardware and applications that we are currently using.

Charles has been part of the Trinity family since 2011 after his transition from Lancaster Pennsylvania. Charles and Charlotte met at Bucknell University where they were continually active with Inter Varsity Christian Fellowship as students and did volunteer staff work in Lancaster Pennsylvania after graduation. Charles has been married to Charlotte for 45 years and they have three adult children, of which two are married with three grandsons and one granddaughter. He loves spending time with his children and grandchildren.

Charles graduated from Bucknell with a Civil Engineering degree. He worked as a mechanical engineer and then general manager for Champion Blower & Forge Lancaster facility. He and Charlotte then owned a software development business. Charles did sales and technical support. The bulk of our customers were in Pennsylvania and Connecticut. One of our customers offered a position in West Haven and that is what brought us to Connecticut.

Sam Taubl was born and raised in Derry, New Hampshire. He comes from a very musical family of 7 children. Sam started his education in music at age three when he picked up the cello. At age eight he was accepted into the Juilliard pre-college program in New York City. He continued his musical education at Juilliard until age 16. Sam lived in Port au Prince Haiti for a year after graduating from high school in 2011. He started a music program at an orphanage in the center of the city. From there Sam moved back to New Haven, CT. Sam was heavily involved with the worship ministry at Black Rock Church in Fairfield, CT for 5 years. Sam has also been on the board of directors for Sound Affect International, a non-profit music education organization, for 4 years. He has 5 years of previous experience working with and mentoring both children’s and youth groups and has mentored the youth here at Trinity since he was hired in 2017 as Worship Director. In 2022, Sam took on oversight of the youth ministry here at Trinity and now serves as the Director of Youth and Worship. Sam feels blessed to be a part of this community and is excited to see what the Lord has in store for Trinity in the coming years.
